Zanmai Day at KNIFE with Tomo Hasegawa
For one afternoon, we’re bringing a little more of Seki City to Givins Street.
On September 2nd, we’ll be joined at KNIFE by Tomo Hasegawa, President of Mcusta Zanmai, for Zanmai Day.
Mcusta Zanmai has been part of KNIFE since our early days. We were the first shop in Canada to carry the brand, and over the years it’s been one of those relationships that has grown well beyond simply putting knives on a shelf.
Mcusta Zanmai is known for bringing together traditional Japanese knife making with a distinctly modern approach. Their knives are made in Seki, Gifu, a city with centuries of history as one of Japan’s great centres of blade making. From the steel and construction to the handles and finishing, there is a real attention to detail in how each knife comes together.
Having Tomo here gives us a chance to talk about that process directly. We’ll be spending the afternoon talking knives, materials, manufacturing and the history behind Zanmai, with the opportunity to look through the collection and ask questions along the way.
Zanmai Day
September 2nd
1–4 PM
KNIFE
1A Givins Street - Toronto.
Come by for a coffee, a conversation, or just to spend some time with the knives.
Tomo will also be launching his new line from Mcusta - stay tuned for all the new goodness!
It’s always nice when the people behind the things we’ve carried for years can come through the shop. And Tomo - the one and only.
Thanks for reading.
