Moving from 803 Dundas: A New Chapter

Moving is often a bittersweet experience. As we pack up our belongings and prepare to leave a familiar space, we're reminded of the memories we've made there. This is especially true when the place holds as much significance as 803 Dundas does for me. It's not just an address; it's been a home, a sanctuary, and a stage for countless moments that have shaped who I am today. As we prepare to move, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on my time here and share some thoughts about this transition.

A Walk Down Memory Lane

803 Dundas has been our home for the past 7 years. When we first moved in, we were struck by the vibrant community, the convenience of the location, and the charm of the building itself. From the cozy back room where we've spent countless hours with our classes, to the rickety old stairs, to my second home in my basement office where we once held a jam space (jazz guitar never sounded so horrible). Every corner has its story to tell.

I'll never forget the first party we hosted here. Zanmai day was filled with incredible jazz and Japanese whiskey. Friends gathered around the sharpening table, laughter filled the air, and it felt like the beginning of something special. The walls of 803 Dundas have seen mini celebrations, large staff party take out dinners (thanks COVID), they've heard my joys and my frustrations, my late-night musings, and my early morning coffee rituals.

The Neighborhood Vibe

Living at 803 Dundas meant being part of a vibrant and diverse community. The local cafes, shops, and take out spots became extensions of our home. I developed routines that I cherished: morning walks to the Chinatown, quick bike errands through Bellwoods and gummy bear runs to 7/11.

The sense of community here is something truly unique. It's where neighbors become friends, and where, most of the time - there's always a friendly face around the corner. I'll miss the good vibes the most.

The Move: Embracing Change

As we pack up our life into boxes, I'm filled with a mix of emotions. There's sadness in leaving behind a place that's been so significant, but there's also excitement for what's to come. Moving is an opportunity for a fresh start, a chance to create new memories and find new favorite spots.

Change can be daunting, but it's also invigorating. The process of moving forces us to de-clutter, not just physically but emotionally as well. It's a time to let go of what's no longer serving us and make space for new experiences and opportunities.

Looking Ahead

While I'll always have a special place in my heart for 803 Dundas, I'm looking forward to this new chapter. We've found a new space that feels like the right next step for KNIFE, and I can't wait to make it our own. There are new neighborhoods to explore, new routines to establish, and new memories to create.

As we say goodbye to 803 Dundas, We do so with gratitude for the time we've spent here and anticipation for what lies ahead. Moving is never easy, but it's a reminder that home is not just a placeā€”it's a feeling, a collection of moments and experiences that we carry with us wherever we go.

To anyone else going through a move, know that it's okay to feel a mix of emotions. Embrace the nostalgia, cherish the memories, but also look forward to the adventure that awaits. Every ending is a new beginning, and every move is a step toward a future filled with possibility.

Here's to new beginnings and the journey ahead. Goodbye, 803 Dundas, and thank you for everything.
