La Bugambilia

It has a bright, fresh plum flavor. There's also a nutty aroma and solid sweetness reminiscent of praline. It has a good body, firmly supporting and balancing the acidity and sweetness.

La Bugambilia is a farm located in the Santa Rosa area of southern Guatemala.

Until recently, the Santa Rosa region where the farm is located had not received much attention, but it boasts a microclimate and fertile volcanic soil. In the 2022 Cup of Excellence, coffees from Santa Rosa garnered attention by winning 5 lots, a first in the competition's history.

La Bugambilia has won awards in the COE almost every year recently, and its high production is beyond question. In addition to the Pacas variety in this lot, they produce specialty coffees of various varieties such as Pacamara, Yellow Bourbon, Pache, and Geisha. One of their main goals is to preserve biodiversity and protect forests and soil. 18ha of the farmland is used for coffee cultivation using the agroforestry method, and there is also a forest reserve with native trees such as oak, pine, and cypress.

"Pacas" is a mutation from the Bourbon variety discovered in El Salvador. It is a variety that has undergone "dwarfing," meaning the tree size becomes smaller. Its small size allows for dense planting, enabling increased yields. It is the parent variety of the famous hybrid "Pacamara," known for its high quality. Some producers believe that the wonderful flavors of Pacamara come from the Pacas variety, and it is relatively widely planted in Central America.
