Ishii Koji — Hand-Carved Wooden Spoons & Bowls (Chiba, Japan)

Handmade in Chiba Prefecture by master woodworker Ishii Koji, these wooden spoons and bowls reflect a deep respect for material, function, and everyday use.

Each piece is carved by hand from carefully selected Japanese hardwoods, shaped slowly with traditional tools, and finished with natural oils to protect the grain while preserving a soft, organic feel. No two are exactly alike—subtle variations in tone, texture, and form are part of their character.

Ishii-san’s work is guided by a simple philosophy: tools should feel good in the hand and quietly improve daily life. His spoons are balanced and comfortable for daily cooking and serving, while his bowls are light, warm to the touch, and ideal for rice, soups, snacks, or small dishes.

Unlike mass-produced tableware, these pieces age beautifully. With use, the surface develops a gentle patina, becoming more personal over time.

Perfect for cooks, collectors, and anyone who values craftsmanship rooted in tradition.

**Please note that due to the hand made nature of these spoons, some patterns and exact dimensions may vary. Contact us for exact pictures / info if needed. Thanks.

Available in two different sizes. Hand wash with water and mild detergent only. Dry immediately, store in a cool dry place. Periodic oiling with food grade tung / walnut or mineral oil will help preserve the life of this spoon.
